Each phase has its own purpose.  In phase one, you will kick start your weight loss and be able to eat normal food proportions, but all of your carbs will be restricted.  Within these two weeks, the diet is extremely strict.  This phase will be the hardest because it is preparing you to continue this way of eating.  Normal meals, such as fish, turkey, chicken and shellfish will be a typical lean meat eaten in the first phase.  With your choice of meat, you will eat a low-glycemic-index vegetable and also enjoy reduced-fat cheeses or eggs.  Within the first phase you should expect to lose 8 to 12 pounds.   
 
Phase two will slowly introduce the foods to stay away from.  You want to continue to stay in the second phase until you have reached your desire weight loss goal.  Within this phase you will continue losing 1 to 2 pounds weekly. 
 
In Phase three, you will follow the SB diet eating habits for life.  This phase is ongoing.  You will continue to maintain your desired weight and keep a healthy balance in your diet.  If you see the weight is starting to increase, simply return back to the first phase.
